• Dental infections are most common etiology,followed by trauma,peritonsillar & pharyngeal abscess & Osteoradionecrosis.
  • Group A hemolytic streptococci & staphylococcus are initiating bacteria.
  • Others are Bacteroides, Clostridium, Peptostreptococcus, Enterobacteriaceae, Coliforms, proteus,  pseudomonas, & klebsiella.
  • Effective treatment and management of
  •    necrotizing fasciitis is based on early recognition,
  •    aggressive surgical intervention, use of broad
  •    spectrum antibiotics, meticulous post operative care, nutrition and  supportive therapy .
