Disappear before birth
1ST Evidence of endochondral bone (14th week iul)
Much of cartilage replaced with Bone by middle of fetal life
Upper end →Growth cartilage and Articular cartilage
Changes Mand position and form
Growth ↑ at puberty peak b/n 12 ½ -14yrs
Ceases →2o yrs of life
