Role of Function

  • Response of respiratory muscles to changes in respiratory feedback
  • Clinical examination to assess  mouth breathing
  •         Airflow measuring devices
  • Mouth breathing and malocclusion
  • Long face syndrome
  • Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
  • It is commonly accepted that the etiology of any problem should be contained in the diagnosis.
  • Malocclusion is a developmental problem, not a pathologic one, and although we can say that both hereditary and environmental factors are important influences on development, often we are not able to ascertain which malocclusions are determined largely on genetic basis and which result largely from environmental factors and which are a combination of both.
